01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
About this place
When deciding what to lay over the grill first, the offal that shares the shop's name is a natural starting point. Kametsuru in Shinagawa's Nakanobu neighbourhood features value and super-value mixed platters, letting diners sample multiple textures and degrees of rich fat side by side. Options range from snappy beef heart and crunchy aorta to rich shirokoro intestine and marbled toro offal. The house liver, billed on the menu as the most delicious in Nakanobu, arrives with a vibrant hue and clean, tender flavour.
Hearty Wagyu and Classic Sides
Alongside the offal selections, the restaurant provides a range of rich red meats sourced with wholesaler expertise, including wagyu short ribs and loin. Generous, double-portion offerings such as Kakegawa beef A5 kalbi and salted scallion beef tongue cater to bigger appetites. The caramelised fat and savoury sauce pair naturally with a generous bowl of rice, while sides of napa cabbage kimchi or crisp cabbage dressed in fragrant sesame oil provide a welcome contrast throughout the meal.
Spending a Relaxed Weekend Evening
To drink, guests can select from chilled draft or bottled beers, alongside hoppy, sours, and approachable bottled wines. Kametsuru is open only from evening until night on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, making an advance reservation advisable when planning a visit. The unpretentious room makes a comfortable destination for sharing a tabletop grill with friends or family.
